What color are your eyes?

Some are blue, brown, yellow and green.

Mine are the color of experienced wisdom.

Through my eyes I see the future based on a colorful far past.

I can see when things are going great, and why things won’t work the way you think it will. I’ve been there and done that, and although I know what needs to be done and how, I’m also experienced enough to know how to not take charge, when it isn’t my job.

I can see that although you may be one calling the shots, you haven’t a clue how to proceed. I can tell you how to proceed – if only you looked into my eyes and asked.

But you won’t look into my eyes, because in your eyes is fear. And the last thing you want someone with experienced wisdom eyes to see is fear. So, being the inexperienced leader you are, you create a game plan based on what you think – instead of what you know – to be the correct course of action.

Your attitude is one of confidence and experience – but your eyes still show fear.

So, we go about our work, as per your instructions.

But things don’t work out, parts of the project fall through the cracks, and the team loses faith in your leadership abilities. Now, we are behind schedule, and need to fix the errors – your errors – in judgment.

Look into my eyes.

What color are they?

They are the color of experienced wisdom.

You too can have my color of eyes – all you need to do is ask.

What color are your eyes?
